Environment
Every Streetcar takes an average of 26 privately-owned cars off the roads of the UK, because
members often sell (or don't replace) a car when they join. This means Streetcar has already
taken over 20,000 cars off the streets.
What's more, Streetcar has found that members choose to drive 71% less after joining Streetcar,
adopting a more integrated transport model by choosing the most appropriate means for each
journey. This means that, to date, the company has saved more than 100,000 tonnes of CO2 through
reduced driving alone.
Streetcar is also committed to providing the latest and most efficient vehicles to its members in
order to minimise emissions. In 2007, VW collaborated with Streetcar to launch the Polo
BlueMotion in the UK. All Streetcar vehicles are new VW Golfs, Polos and Transporter vans,
including BlueMotion technology.

Car ownership costs
It is estimated that owning a car equivalent to Streetcar's VW Golf and driving 5,000 miles per
year costs £3,927. The same trips in a Streetcar would cost just £1,400.
